Flow Alarm — Mobile App
Mobile App Design
Challenge & Solution
Most alarm apps fail at the one job that matters: getting you out of bed. Snooze is one tap, and willpower loses. Flow's bet: make waking up physically unavoidable. Pair the app with a small dock you walk over and scan before the alarm stops.
I joined at zero as founding designer - shaping the product, the dark system, and every screen.

The dock is just the anchor. The real work was turning that one moment into a daily loop: sleep, wake-up, focus, accountability. One product, not four features.
Waking up resists cheating. No snooze - dismiss by finishing a mission: scan the dock across the room, solve math, hunt an object with the camera, or shout a phrase. Difficulty you can tune.

Hardcore Mode adds real stakes. Set a penalty, add a card via Stripe, miss your alarm - you pay. The most sensitive thing to design. It had to feel fair, not predatory: clear window, honest opt-out, visible detection history.

Getting up is only the start. Block distracting apps, run a focus session, scan the dock to end it. Same logic, extended into the day.

Then the scaffolding that keeps people coming back: streaks, badges, Flow+, invite-to-earn. Retention and monetization designed in, not bolted on.
All of it in a calm, dark interface - soft gradients, quiet type, ambient full-screen states - on a system built to keep up as Flow shipped fast.
